Re: Paint Drying on the Wall
I woudn't care if Baseball went the way of soccer and hockey. just put it out of site and out of mind and I would be happy. the only sport of the big 3 that I can't get into, even in their championship games. but this is just my opinion and everyone has one. I like NASCAR and I will not talk bad about someone who doesn't. I pretty much hate baseball but expect that my opinion will be respected as an individual opinion.

and you never miss a chance to take a shot at your "home region". you remind me a lot of my oldest sister. she is the middle kid in the family with me being the olders. She couldn't get out here fast enough when she graduated HS. went to Carson Newman, lives in Knoxville (hates UT by the way) and has now started a family. Now that she has a family she has tried to move back to this area. sure some things may still be a little "backwards" to what some might think but it isn't really that bad. maybe I'm just happy to live in Norton, I don't know. My sister just understands now that overall, this is a good place to raise a family. I know there are problems here but there are problems EVERYWHERE.

I'd rather not have a father than to have a father who would disown me for wanting to play the most popular sport in the world that would keep me in healthy shape and out of other, more harmful activities. You're the epitome of what this area produces - backwards, ignorant thinking that will be passed on and on and on until someone steps up and starts realizing how stupid you or whoever it is passing this idea down are. Good job, Father of the Year.
Re: Paint Drying on the Wall
is that much different that a mother not wanting a kid to play football because it is too dangerous? Really you all are blowing this way out of shape. If I had a son that wanted to do dance I probably would have a hard time accepting that. wouldnt dis-own him or anything though. (pretty much a figure of speach. when you have a kid you know that the love a parent has for a kid can never be returned by the kid's love for a parent) If a mother had a daughter that wanted to play football 99 out of 100 times I guarantee they would have a hard time accepting that.

I don't live everywhere else, so I don't really care what goes on everywhere else. I love living here, the land and everything, it's dumbass people that I'm taking a shot at. I criticize them, nothing else, they are not my "home region"...they are dumbasses who live in it. We ***** and moan about our image elsewhere, but when people act like they do and have these kind of views, we still act sooooo surprised when people think what they do and complain some more about being "picked on". When we have a large group acting the way they do and looking at things the way they do, we're going to get looked at as backwards people and they'd be hitting the nail right on the head with things like this.

It's more understandable if it's for safety concerns. But because it's a "sissy" sport? That's shameful to even think as a parent.

safety concerns? how about over protective? there are safety concerns about everything you do. crossing the street, riding the shcool bus (no seat belts there), going to the pool, getting hit in the head with a baseball is more of a safety risk to me that playing football but that is just me. like i said it is just my opinion and just maybe because I'm in kind of a argumentative mood today.

An issue of danger and an issue of a stereotyping soccer as "sissies" is two completely different things, one is showing care the other is just showing ignorance. So yes, it's complete different, not even close.

Exactly, one is a legit concern about their kid and the other is about their image with their buddies.
